SAN CARLOS CITY, Pangasinan – In line with the DepEd’s thrusts on intensifying research activities in the entire education system, a 2-day Division Seminar-Workshop on Action Research was conducted on April 18-19 at the Division Conference Hall.
Participants to this seminar-workshop were newly hired teachers preferably with 0-3 years of service in DepEd. A total of 75 participants – 55 Elementary, 16 Secondary and 4 Integrated School teachers attended the said activity.
To open the session, SEPS Renante Camara gave some background about research and oriented the teachers.
The CID Chief, Dr. Editha Pridas, emphasized the integrity, dignity and obligation of a researcher and then challenged the participants to make an action regarding the development needs of the students in their respective schools.
Being the only approved SCC’s action research proponent in the region and BERF funded, Dr. Janice Abon of Central I ES presented to the teacher-participants her output and shared her journey as she began with her research proposal.
On the second and final day of the seminar-workshop, Mr. John Silvester Alipio, an invited international speaker and Master Teacher II from Dagupan City, taught the teachers each formula and design on how to write an action research. Mr. Alipio gave also an inspiration as he told that he started to conduct his own researches when he was 4 months in teaching service in a public school.
“Research must be put into action in order to solve a problem or generate ideas,” said Alipio. “It must be dynamic and a proactive effort.”
The teachers, after the lecture, engaged in making an action research activity based on the format discussed in line with DepEd Order No. 16, s. 2017 entitled Research Management Guidelines.
