San Carlos’ Jonas Aquino became the first gold medalist of team Region 1 Athletic Association (R1AA) in shotput for 15 below boys category. Another San Carlenian athlete, Freddie Buenaventura settled for silver on the first day of Palarong Pambansa Paragames 2018 held at San Vicente Plaza, April 15.
On the second and third day of Palaro, San Carlos’ star player Anthony Peralta snatched 3 gold medals for team R1AA in 100m, 200m and 400m run for 16 above boys category on April 16 and 17 at Quirino Stadium, Bantay, Ilocos Sur.
Peralta also won gold, silver and bronze medals in Antique edition of the Palarong Pambansa last year; 4 gold medals in 2018 R1AA Pangasinan edition; and bronze medal from the 3rd Asian Youth Para Games held at Dubai, United Arab Emirates last December 2017.
Hundreds of special athletes all over the Philippines started to compete for their Palaro gold medal dreams, supported with the principles of “inclusive education”; “equal opportunity to excel in sports”; and “best interest of the child being given more importance in the interpretation of any rule in case of ambiguity.”
San Carlos City Division swimmers will compete on April 18-19 and are expected to add gold medals on the tally.
SDS Sheila Marie A. Primicias and Mayor Joseres Resuello continue to motivate and inspire San Carlenian athletes in this Palaro.
