The 10-day and first ever Children’s Summit, a fund-raising activity of the Federated Parents-Teachers Association (FPTA) of San Carlos City Division, opened at Central II Don Federico Mandapat Dome, March 6.
The Summit which is initiated by the Division FPTA headed by Pres. Arturo I. Santos, Jr., 3-year PTA President of Magtaking Elementary School in joint partnership with DepEd San Carlos City Division spearheaded by Dr. Sheila Marie A. Primicias, showcases learning stations and grand carnival show.
Learners in elementary and secondary public schools in San Carlos City attend the said summit. Pupils from Central II ES, JMPS ES, Lilimasan ES and Division Personnel are scheduled on the first batch. Other schools are scheduled in the succeeding batches.
The event started with an opening program hosted by Mr. Chris Marlowe Yambao and Mr. Bernard Pedroche wherein pupils were asked to observe some rules regarding maintenance of cleanliness in the venues and proper usage of the comfort rooms. “Basura ko, Iuuwi ko” was emphasized. Yambao advised the children to have fun while learning.
Mr. Arturo I. Santos, Jr. welcomed the participants. In an interview, he said, “This Children’s Summit is a joint fund-raising activity of the FPTA and San Carlos City Division. Through this, the learners will truly enjoy the different activities through discovery, exploration and experience. The funds to be collected will be used for the rehabilitation of the Siringan Sanctuary, continuous improvement of the Science Discovery Center, Historical Museum and E-Library and the provision of television sets for the schools.” He added, “I’m also hoping for a very successful and safe event. I hope that everybody will be safe and free from harm.”
One of the activities that was enjoyed by the pupils was the breathtaking Grand Carnival Show featuring Magic, Circus, Balancers, Clown, Unicyclist and Fire Blower. Together with Elsa and Ola, kids were energized with the dance number “Baby Shark.”
After watching, it’s the learners’ time to explore the Hydroponics Garden, E-library with 20 tablets with internet connection, Science Discovery Centrum with interactive materials, Historical Museum and Playhouse based at Central I Elementary School.
The spectacular and amazing Robotics is based at the Function Hall of Siringan Sanctuary headed by the BKELS Founder and President, Dr. Ellen P. Santos. The outputs of their Kinder to Senior High School learners were displayed and presented to the pupils.
Some pupils enjoyed swimming in the Olympic-sized pool, rafting/boating, tower climbing and playing.
Danrey Riparip, a Grade IV pupil of Central II ES, said,” Maganda, masaya at nakakatuwa na nakakatakot ang aming napanood na sirkus.” “Maganda at masaya,” exclaimed Kobe Carl Aquino, Grade I of JMPS ES.
“Ayos, maganda at enjoy,” commented Mrs. Bea Sivillo, parent from San Juan. Mrs. Lydia Godoy, parent of a pupil of Lilimasan ES said, “Nag-enjoy ang aking anak sa panonood. Ayaw na nga niyang umalis sa panonood ng sirkus. Natuwa at namangha siya sa kanyang napanood. Sulit ang binayaran naming limampung piso.”
Mrs. Marife Carino, Grade I teacher of Central II-ES, said “Nag-enjoy ang mga bata at marami silang natutunan sa Children’s Summit. Bawing-bawi nila ang binayaran nilang limampung piso.” Mrs. Perla Magalong, teacher of JMPS ES, said, “It’s very entertaining. Nag-enjoy ang mga bata at mga teachers.”
